The International Association of Hispanic Meeting Professionals (IAHMP) is a Globally Diverse Association and is led
by a volunteer Board of Directors who serve without remuneration and donate a substantial portion of their time, talent, energies and experience to direct the Association in achieving its goals and objectives.

About Margaret...

Margaret Gonzalez is founder and president of GVR Public Relations Agency, Inc., The International Association of Hispanic Meeting Professionals (IAHMP) and the Certified Diversity Meeting Professional (CDMP) program. Ms. Gonzalez is also the publisher of Hispanic Meetings & Travel and MAES National Magazine.

Margaret has over 30 years of experience in working with diverse
groups in the  United  States and abroad. She is a  magna cum laude graduate of the University of  Houston at  Clear  Lake with a Bachelor of Science degree in Legal Studies and Political Science and has done graduate work in Urban Planning and Environmental Studies. Margaret has also studied at the  University of  Chicago National  Opinion  Research  Center, was selected for The IBM  Community Leaders Program and is a graduate of Leadership Houston. Her experience includes working as a Public Affairs Officer for County government where she wrote the county's Affirmative Action program for the US  Department of Labor; she has also administered grants funded by the US Department of Education. Margaret is one of the leading authorities in the Hispanic Market for the meetings and hospitality industry. She has over twenty years of management experience in planning meetings, conferences and special events. She has also raised millions of dollars for community based organizations that work to improve the lives of minority Americans. Active in politics she has been a candidate for state office and has been a campaign manager for several political candidates at the local, state and national level. Margaret has been elected to the national boards of Common Cause in Washington, DC; The Panel of American Women and the University of  Houston Alumni Board of Directors. She was also elected National Vice President for the League of United  Latin American Citizens (LULAC). Her extensive experience has  prepared Ms.Gonzalez for her current leadership role in IAHMP.  Ms. Gonzalez is the founder  of the industry's first Certified Diversity Meeting Professional (CDMP) program. She has also served on the MGM Grand Multicultural Advisory Council and the Hilton Hotels Corporate Multicultural Advisory Committee.

Margaret is a native born fifth generation Texan and is married to Ralph Gonzalez, a Texas A&M University aeronautical engineering graduate who spent over thirty years in the nation's space program and as a Space Shuttle Program Manager at the NASA Johnson Space Center. Mr.Gonzalez is a descendent of the Canary Islanders who founded present day San Antonio, Texas in 1721.

About Cathy...


Cathy Gonzales, Former Vice President of the Convention and Tourism Department of the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce, attracts to Albuquerque and New Mexico thousands of Hispanic and Native American conventioneers and visitors, which translates to millions of dollars for the local economies. She is also responsible for motivating many “Anglo” groups dealing with Hispanics and Native Americans to come to the “Land of Enchantment.   Cathy has been a board member and vice president of the International Association of Hispanic Meeting Professionals since 1996.  Cathy also finds the time for other organizations and is a current board member of the New Mexico Tourism Association of New Mexico, (6 years) board member of the Central Region Association of New Mexico,   past president of the Latin American Winter Sports Marketing Council of New Mexico, Inc.,  past Board Member as curriculum advisor to the International Business Council of the Technical Vocational Institute, Member of the Women’s Albuquerque Chapter for the American GI Forum, board member of CIMPA Chapter, National Representative for Committees of various national organizations and volunteers her spare time to school activities related to her twelve grandchildren.  She was recently recognized for 24 years of service with the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce and was awarded the Meeting Planner of the year by IAHMP. She is responsible for developing and increasing the number of international visitors to the city and state. Throughout Cathy’s career, many familiarization tours are given with domestic and foreign travel agents, trade missions are organized which provide business opportunities to chamber members, but also expose Albuquerque to international visitors. Missions have been undertaken to Spain, Mexico and Chile and cooperative educational programs have been organized with New York, Australia, London and Mexico.  

Cathy Gonzales is a native of Santa Fe, New Mexico, graduated from Loretto Academy and sang in the choir at the famous Loreto Chapel. Cathy attended the University of New Mexico and has lived most of her life in Santa Fe and in Albuquerque where most of her family resides.

Ralph Gonzalez

About Ralph...

Ralph Gonzalez, Founding member of IAHMP and Chairman of the GVR Public Relations Agency is formerly an Aerospace Engineer and Space Shuttle Program Manager at the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas.

Ralph Gonzalez recently retired from the Space Program where he served as a flight systems engineer and manager on numerous NASA space projects. He is the recipient of several professional service awards, among which is the U.S. Presidential Medal of Freedom Award for his participation as a member of the Apollo 13 Rescue Mission Operations Team. He is an Engineering Management Consultant and Chairman of the GVR Public Relations Agency. A graduate of Texas A&M University at College Station with a BS degree in Aeronautical engineering, he continued Graduate studies in Engineering at the University of Southern California and in Nuclear Physics at the University of Houston. Ralph served as Chairman and national president of the Society of Mexican American Engineers & Scientists and received the Society's Medalla de Oro Award. He was recently featured in the motion picture "A Day Without a Mexican," along with Dr. Mario J. Molina of MIT, recipient of the Nobel Prize in chemistry. Mr. Gonzalez is a native born Texan and a descendent of the Canary Islanders who founded San Antonio, Texas in 1721. He is also a descendent of Francisco Gonzalez Bocanegra, author of the lyrics of the Mexican National Anthem.

Mrs. Clara Padilla Andrews is the immediate past President of the National Association of Hispanic Publications (NAHP), headquartered in Washington , DC ’s National Press Building.
